Rizza Jane Gatdula
EDUCATION, PATH TO SUCCESS
Already a graduate of Bachelor of Science in Computer Studies, she took up the courage after 15 years and enrolled for a masteral degree in Business Management to pursue and venture on her career. RJ as she is fondly called in the office believes that being a leader is a constant learning process thus despite her work and her duties, she managed to find time enrolling herself to continue her education and improve her management skills.
She, as any other ordinary person, also ran into some rough patch in life. She was only 23 years of age when she had her daughter. Due to some unfortunate events, she had to raise her daughter on her own. Fortunately, her parents are there to support and guide her despite this. Especially her dad who stood as the father figure to her daughter.
Her journey in the BPO industry was not always rainbows and butterflies. She started her professional career in the BPO industry as an agent when the Japan Global crisis hit the country, affecting her previous industry. She strived to do her best in the new business that she is in. And because of her hard work, wit and being a go-getter, she managed to pull herself up to the Management level.
After sometime, she felt something is missing, that something lacks from her current status despite the level of position that she had attained. Then the pandemic hit, this is when she started to organize herself and decided to pursue her educational advancement by enrolling in a University to take her Masteral Degree. Her passion for her work is what made her decide to do this. She wanted to prove more to herself and exceed the expectations of the Company. The challenges that she brought upon herself encouraged her to strive more and the knowledge she is getting is being shared with her team. Her experiences at work are being shared as well to her schoolmates.
Instead of stressing herself, she instead enjoyed every bit of challenges that this work / student / mom-persona that she is currently playing. She manages to find time juggling herself with the household chores, teaching her daughter on her school asynchronous activities, and by 3PM, getting ready for her work. Saturdays are intended for her own school. Her days may not seem as hectic as it seems but she managed to do all of these multitasking skills by having a proper self time management and working SMART. She can also still find some time to watch her favorite KDramas and run errands for her Senior Citizen parents.
One thing that made her able to do all of these is her very supportive family. Her father who stood up and became her strength, her mother who became her shield, her siblings who became her allies, her daughter who made her believe that she is no less than a woman without a man and her God who never wavers his forgiveness despite of one’s sins and shortcomings.
To all those who believed in her, and to those who would like to follow her footsteps, she only has this to say
“Getting promotion does not happen overnight. It is something that needs to be worked hard for to be able to enjoy the fruit of your labors. Being a leader means you take all the blame and get less credit. The higher you go, the more humble you must be.”
